The Challenge

Growth had plateaued. The pipeline wasn't moving fast enough.

Envato is one of the world's largest digital creative marketplaces, but growth had plateaued. They needed to significantly increase content volume on the platform while simultaneously growing their base of active, contributing creators. The two goals were linked: more creators meant more content, and more content drove more buyers.

The challenge was that existing acquisition channels were not converting fast enough. Envato had strong brand recognition and an engaged audience, but lacked a system to consistently convert interested creators into registered, active contributors at the scale they needed. Onboarding friction was causing drop-off between sign-up and first content upload, and paid acquisition wasn't targeting the right creative professionals with the right message.

Every week without momentum was revenue sitting on the table. They needed a growth system that could drive creator volume quickly, improve conversion through the onboarding funnel, and operate with clear attribution on what was working.

The Approach

Multi-channel acquisition with conversion optimisation built in.

We built a multi-channel paid acquisition system targeting creative professionals across Google and Meta. Ad creative was developed around the specific value propositions that resonate with creators: portfolio exposure, passive income, and access to a global audience of buyers. Each channel was matched to a different stage of the creator decision journey.

Alongside paid acquisition, we ran a structured conversion optimisation program across the creator onboarding flow. We identified the exact steps where drop-off was highest, built hypotheses for each friction point, and tested solutions systematically. The result was a 26% improvement in conversion rate through the onboarding funnel, turning more of the traffic we were driving into active, contributing creators.

We also deployed outbound acquisition targeting professional designers, videographers, and audio producers not yet on the platform, using intent signals and platform behaviour data to find creators most likely to contribute at volume. The combined approach drove +$2M in estimated MRR uplift and 600K+ new content items within 60 days.
